The Instructor Development Course (IDC), and the Instructor Examination (IE) immediately following, teaches you how to teach people how to scuba dive. Once successful, you'll be able to teach all PADI courses up to the Divemaster level
INSTRUCTOR DEVELOPMENT COURSE (IDC)
The IDC is divided into two parts: The Assistant Instructor (AI) and the Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI). To qualify for an Instructor Examination (IE) you must have completed both parts.
You need to:
Bring all certification cards and copies, plus logbooks.
Have been certified (entry level) for at least 6 months, with 100 dives logged.
Be certified as a PADI Divemaster or leadership level in another organization.
Have proof of CPR/First aid training within the last 24 months.
Have proof of a Medical examination within the last 12 months.
ASSISTANT INSTRUCTOR (AI)
If you would like to only do the Assistant Instructor course, you'll be qualified to teach the classroom portion of all PADI courses and some in-water teaching. As an AI you can then enroll in the OWSI course followed by the IE, giving you full teaching status.
You need to:
Bring all certification cards and copies, plus logbooks.
Have been certified (entry level) for at least 6 months, with 60 dives logged.
Be certified as a PADI Divemaster or leadership level in another organization.
Have proof of CPR/First aid training within the last 24 months.
Have proof of a Medical examination within the last 12 months.
OPEN WATER SCUBA INSTRUCTOR (OWSI)
If you are already a certified PADI Assistant Instructor, or you are an instructor from another certification organization, then you will only need to complete the OWSI course and the IE to become a fully qualified PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor. Be informed, we recommend you to participate for free on the AI program
You need to:
Bring all certification cards (Xeroxes only if you come from an other organization) and logbooks.
Have been certified (entry level) for at least 6 months, with 100 dives logged.
Be certified as a PADI Assistant Instructor or an Instructor from another training organization.
Have proof of CPR/First aid training within the last 24 months.
Have proof of a Medical examination within the last 12 months.
